Revelstoke's Big Eddy Fuel Services Closes as Parent Company Goes Bankrupt
The local gas and diesel distributor said it will close after its Calgary-based parent company entered bankruptcy, ending seven years of service.
On Tuesday, Sept. 1, Big Eddy Fuel Services Ltd. closed its doors following the bankruptcy of its parent company, Fuels Inc, a Calgary-based fuel supplier.
Fuels Inc served businesses across Alberta, Saskatchewan, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories before the owner reportedly lost the business "for personal reasons," according to staff.
For upward of seven years, Big Eddy Fuel Services Ltd. supplied marked and clear regular and premium gas, diesel, and CP-43 to customers from Mica Creek, Malakwa, Rogers Pass, Nakusp, Trout Lake, Silverton, and Burton.
Staff were "blindsided" by the short notice, though Peter Humphreys, owner of the Gas Club, noted the closure does not affect other local providers in Revelstoke.
Apologizing for the inconvenience, Big Eddy Fuels stated, "We want to thank each and every one of our customers who have been with us over the past seven years or longer.
