Revelstoke hosting Southern Interior's first EV-powered movie screening

Revelstoke will become the first Southern Interior community to host an EV-powered outdoor movie night on Aug 21, when BC Hydro and FreshAirCinema screen GOAT at Queen Elizabeth Park.
Following successful events in Mission and Comox, the screening replaces conventional gas-powered generators with a quiet EV battery setup, eliminating fumes and greenhouse gas emissions.
Viewers are invited to Queen Elizabeth Park next Friday with lawn chairs or blankets, arriving after 6 p.m. for concessions and the film starting around 8:15 p.m.
"Outdoor movies have always been about bringing communities together," said Jason Bashnick, FreshAirCinema's managing director, highlighting the initiative's focus on community connection and awareness.
As more British Columbians adopt EVs, Hydro notes these screenings highlight the value of dam reservoirs and recreation sites across the province, utilizing a grid powered by 98 per cent clean energy.
