The Minister of Labour considers that "other schemes are possible" and refers the ball back to the social partners.
Jean-Pierre Farandou, the new Minister of Labour and Solidarity and surprise of the Lecornu government, is already considering other possible schemes in case of suspension of pension reform.
Further discussions with the social partners must begin on pensions after Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has proposed to suspend the reform adopted in 2023, "until the presidential election".
In an interview with "Ouest-France" on Saturday 18 October, the recently appointed Minister of Labour estimated that, without any increase in contributions or reduction in pensions, more work would have to be done to finance the plan.
Jean-Pierre Farandou spoke this Saturday of the possibility of other systems, after Sébastien Lecornu's decision to suspend the reform: "It is a choice of society".
