The rare Kemp's sea turtle Rhossi washed ashore on a beach in Wales in 2023, severely hypothermic, some 8,000 kilometers from his habitat in the Gulf of Mexico. After more than two years of intensive care at the Anglesey Sea Zoo, he has fully recovered and is preparing for a long journey back home.
A sea turtle that was found lifeless on a beach in Wales two years ago is now to be flown back home to the Gulf of Mexico. The journey will be by helicopter to London and then a cargo flight across the Atlantic, reports the BBC.

At the beginning of August, the marine zoo in Anglesey, Ireland, was preparing to repatriate a turtle from Kemp to the Gulf of Mexico after a miraculous rescue: in December 2023, the animal was stranded on a beach more than 8,000 kilometres away.
