But suspending the federal gas tax is a phony gesture designed to make it look like they care, while failing to address the actual cause of the problem.

Republicans were against a gas tax holiday—before they were for it

A number of Republicans who are now for suspending the gas tax were vehemently against the idea when former President Joe Biden suggested it back in 2022.
