Hurley to Sign Extension with UConn, per CBS Sports
The new deal keeps Hurley among college basketball’s highest-paid coaches after three Final Four trips and two national titles in four seasons.
On Friday, UConn head coach Dan Hurley agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2031-32 season, multiple media outlets reported. The deal comes three days before the Huskies open their 2026-27 season against Gardner-Webb.
Hurley previously signed a six-year, $50 million contract in July 2024 after discussing the head-coaching position with the Los Angeles Lakers. That agreement secured his role through the 2029-30 season.
Under Hurley, the Huskies won national titles in 2023 and 2024 and have secured six consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. He owns a 199-75 record in eight seasons as head coach.
Financial terms of the new agreement remain undisclosed, though Hurley stays among the country's highest-paid coaches. Kansas head coach Bill Self is the only coach earning a higher base salary.
If Hurley coaches the full duration of his new deal, he will have spent 14 consecutive seasons at UConn. The Huskies enter the 2026-27 season ranked fourth in the AP Preseason Poll.
