Every two minutes, someone in Germany is a victim of violence in their own home. However, experts believe that the number of unreported cases is significantly higher. Women are particularly affected - they account for almost 80 per cent fo domestic violence cases.
Every two minutes, someone falls victim to domestic violence, according to figures from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). The perpetrators are usually men, the victims women. To better protect them, Justice Minister Hubig plans to introduce electronic ankle bracelets for violent offenders.
