Thousands of European wind and solar power systems exposed online, Dutch researchers say
Thousands of administrative systems at wind and solar power parks in Europe are exposed to the internet, potentially giving attackers access to interfaces that can stop turbines and raising the risk of sabotage, Dutch researchers warned on Tuesday.
In European wind and solar parks, 8,547 management systems have been found that are freely accessible via the internet. This is according to research by The Hague-based cybersecurity firm Modat and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). In the Netherlands, this concerns 132 systems at solar parks and 9 at wind parks.
