Major League Soccer Looking to Move Whitecaps Away From Vancouver: Report
Supporters marched and rallied as the club, up for sale since 2024, faces an unstable stadium deal and possible relocation.
Fans launched the "Save the Caps" campaign during Saturday's 3-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids, with a sold-out crowd of 27,589 at BC Place displaying banners protesting potential relocation.
Persistent rumors of relocation have gained traction as MLS officials described the club's stadium situation as "untenable," citing the lack of venue ownership and a $40 million revenue shortfall.
The current lease at BC Place expires at the end of the 2026 season, with the team reportedly retaining only 12% of matchday revenue despite drawing over 20,000 fans for 19 straight matches.
Striker Brian White noted that "the way the support has grown, 27,000 fans in the stands, it shows what this club means to the city and to the people." Players expressed gratitude for the "incredible" support.
CEO Axel Schuster acknowledged that "Plan Z" involves relocation, though supporters hope to replicate the 2018 success that kept the Columbus Crew in their market.
