France to reimburse young women for reusable menstrual products
France announced Tuesday that it will expand access to sustainable menstrual products by reimbursing reusable cups and underwear for eligible young women and low-income groups. The move, aimed at tackling period poverty, is expected to benefit millions once implemented through the country’s social security system from the upcoming academic year.
Reimbursement of periodic protections will soon be applied for women under 26 years of age and recipients of complementary health care. The Ministers of Health and Equality between Women and Men announced in a joint statement on Thursday, 16 April.

On Thursday 16th, the government announced the introduction of the reimbursement of periodic reusable protections for women under 26 years of age. This measure, provided for in the 2024 budget of the Social Security, took three years to be adopted since the end of 2023.
