Registered sex offender held for sniffing butts and violating probation, again
Police say surveillance video linked Crowder to calls from two stores, and he remains jailed without bail after repeated allegations of sniffing women in public.
Glendale police arrested 39-year-old Calese Crowder on Friday for allegedly violating his parole after officers responded to reports of suspicious behavior at a grocery store in the 1500 block of Glenoaks Boulevard.
Known on social media as the "Serial Butt-Sniffer," Crowder has a documented history of arrests in Glendale and Burbank dating back to 2021, gaining widespread notoriety after a 2023 viral TikTok video at a Barnes & Noble.
Authorities identified Crowder after reviewing surveillance footage from Big Sav Discount Store and a nearby Marshalls, where witnesses reported the man "hunkered down" near customers attempting to sniff them.
Following his arrest, Crowder remains in custody at Men's Central Jail without bail pending a court hearing on charges of probation violations stemming from previous convictions.
Crowder's extensive record includes more than 40 arrests along with prior jail sentences of 99 and 105 days for similar parole violations, plus convictions for burglary, robbery, and controlled-substance possession.
