In Denmark, men over the age of 55 will no longer have access to fertility treatments in the public health sector, the Danish regional organisation, which manages public health structures in this country, announced on Tuesday, informs AFP, taken over by Agerpres.
To date, only women in the Scandinavian country have had an age limit for fertility treatments, and now Denmark is following up on men. The competent authority refers to research results.

Men over the age of 55 will soon no longer be eligible for fertility treatments within the healthcare system in Denmark. This is due to the health risks for children conceived, for example via IVF, using sperm from older men. Denmark is thus the first country in the world to introduce such a restriction for men. The measure is scheduled to take effect in January.
Older men will no longer be able to get help to have children in the public sector. And that makes good sense, says the chief physician.
