Vinicius Jr Ban Revealed: Goodbye to El Clásico
The punishment stems from a straight red card for grabbing William Saliba’s hair and protesting, with officials calling the reaction aggressive.
- On Saturday, the Spanish Football Federation handed Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior a four-match suspension following his red card against Villarreal, ruling the Brazilian out of the upcoming Clasico against Barcelona.
- Disciplinary authorities imposed two matches for grabbing Nathan Saliba's hair "with the ball not in dispute," while his reaction to the red card constituted an "aggressive attitude," adding another two games.
- Vinícius will miss LaLiga fixtures against Sevilla, Barcelona, Racing Santander, and Valencia; three of these matches take place away from home, where Real Madrid has struggled this season.
- Despite the domestic ban, Vinícius remains available for Champions League action, including upcoming matches against RB Leipzig and AEK Athens, with return to LaLiga scheduled for November against Celta Viga.
- With only one goal in 10 appearances across all competitions, this suspension compounds a difficult 2026 season for Vinícius as Real Madrid continues to struggle away from home under manager Mourinho.
