The vast majority of Lithuanian residents own real estate (RE). Until now, only the value of real estate exceeding 150 thousand euros was taxed. However, the Ministry of Finance headed by Rimantas Šadžius registered a tax reform project on Wednesday and proposes to apply a zero rate to RE, the value of which does not exceed 40 thousand euros.
It is proposed to apply real estate tax (RT) to a person starting from a taxable value of EUR 40,000. However, a relief would be applied to the main residence of a natural person - the RT tax would be reduced by half.
