Tiger Shroff Firing Case: MCOCA Court Remands 11 Accused in Police Custody Till Nov 6
Police said the accused were re-arrested under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act as investigators probe a deeper conspiracy behind the shooting.
A special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court in Mumbai remanded all 11 accused in the Tiger Shroff firing case to police custody until November 6 on Thursday, following their re-arrest under the stringent anti-organised crime law.
The Mumbai Police invoked MCOCA provisions on Tuesday in connection with the October 18 shooting at a Juhu football ground, where the 36-year-old actor's driver and a bystander sustained injuries.
Of the 11 arrested suspects, three were apprehended in Kota, Rajasthan, while the rest were held in Delhi and Haryana. Members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang purportedly claimed responsibility for the firing in social media posts.
Under MCOCA, investigators have up to 180 days to file a charge sheet, compared to 90 days under ordinary criminal law. Confessions recorded before a Deputy Commissioner of Police rank officer are also admissible as evidence in court.
Police sought 10 days of custody, telling the court that detailed interrogation was necessary to unearth the alleged deep-rooted conspiracy behind the attack. Special judge Satyanarayan Navandar instructed the accused to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
