Rays Release Indoor Renderings of Proposed New Baseball Stadium
The team says the 30,000-seat ballpark will include expanded club areas, major video boards and flexible space for concerts and conventions.
On Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Rays released renderings for their proposed $2.3 billion "Forever Home" ballpark designed for the Hillsborough College Dale Mabry campus in Tampa.
Seeking $976 million in public contributions—$796 million from Hillsborough County and $180 million from Tampa—the team reached a tentative agreement earlier this year with Hillsborough College to build the facility.
With an estimated capacity of 30,000 fixed seats, the ballpark features dynamic lighting, large video scoreboards, and a bar overlooking Center Field. Rays CEO Ken Babby called it the "most intimate in Major League Baseball."
Tampa city leaders pushed back a vote on the stadium until August, though the Rays continue working with local officials to secure definitive legal and financial documents.
Team officials aim to occupy the new facility in time for the 2029 season. An independent economic analysis projects the broader development will generate $55.5 billion in total impact over 35 years and attract 10 million annual visitors.
