Meta’s most popular smart glasses are getting a successor: the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3. However, during the announcement, all attention went to the Meta VR Glasses, Ray-Ban Meta without a camera, and a keychain with a secure AI assistant inside. Here’s what you need to know about Meta Connect 2026, which took place last night.

Meta has introduced its new Ray-Ban Meta Audio smart glasses, which are detached from its usual glasses by not integrating cameras and being focused on a high quality audio experience combined with its artificial intelligence assistant (IA), as well as making known its new Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3).

On September 24th (Japan time), Meta and EssilorLuxottica announced new AI glasses, "Ray-Ban Meta Audio" and "Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3)," at their annual event, "Connect 2026." Gen 3 went on sale in Japan on the same day, with the Audio version scheduled to be released in Japan in 2027.
