It snowed northeast of Athens on Sunday night. The snow, which is common here in winter, came at an unusually late time. It was caused by an influx of cold air from the north. It caused temperatures to drop by up to 10°C (50°F) below normal.

Snowfall more typical of winter than early May was recorded during the early hours of Sunday on Mount Parnitha and Mount Penteli, both located on the northern outskirts of Athens.
