Rangers reliever Luis Curvelo hurt while delivering a wild pitch against the Athletics
The Rangers said the right-hander left after a wild pitch and did not return, adding concern to a bullpen already hit by injuries.
On Tuesday, Texas Rangers reliever Luis Curvelo exited with a biceps issue after delivering a wild pitch in the seventh inning against the Athletics in Sacramento.
As the 25-year-old Venezuelan right-hander released the ball, he skipped off the mound in apparent pain, pulled his left hand from his glove, and waved for a trainer before dropping the glove.
Rangers manager Skip Schumaker stated the injury is biceps-related, noting the pain had abated since Curvelo left the game and did not throw another pitch.
Texas faces further bullpen concerns as Curvelo joins a pitching staff managing multiple injuries, with only one reliever currently on the 15-day injured list.
Potential replacements include Peyton Gray, who impressed during spring training, and Josh Sborz, currently pitching well at Triple-A Round Rock, though both would require a 40-man roster adjustment.
