Rangers Secure Ben Godfrey on Loan From Atalanta
The 28-year-old centre-half arrives on loan with an option to buy after making just five substitute appearances for Atalanta.
Rangers completed the loan signing of 28-year-old Atalanta defender Ben Godfrey, securing an option to buy the player for the 2026/27 campaign.
Godfrey moved to Atalanta from Everton for a reported £11 million in 2024 but made only five substitute appearances for the Serie A club before loan spells at Sheffield United and Brondby.
Rangers manager Derek McInnes welcomed the signing, stating, "Ben is a player who has competed at a very high level," and highlighting the defender's English Premier League experience.
This acquisition marks Rangers' third signing of the summer, following striker Lawrence Shankland from Hearts and defender Ross McCrorie from Bristol City.
Although the club aimed to reduce loan dependency this window, recruitment chiefs pursued the deal given Godfrey's pedigree as the defender joins teammates for pre-season training.
