Rams Cut K Harrison Mevis After 2 Misses vs Bills, Sign Ex-Saints K Blake Grupe, AP Source Says
Harrison Mevis missed two field goals in the loss, including a blocked overtime try, and the Rams turned to Blake Grupe.
On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Rams released kicker Harrison Mevis and signed Blake Grupe from the New York Jets practice squad to replace him, according to multiple reports.
Following Monday's 37-34 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills, Mevis missed two field goals, including a potential game-winner blocked by Bills linebacker Gregory Rousseau.
Known as 'The Thiccer Kicker' since replacing Joshua Karty in 2025, Mevis converted just five of nine field-goal attempts this season, including a missed 50-yard try on Monday.
Rams coach Sean McVay admitted he would "take a hard look" at the operation, stating the kicking performance was "not even close to good enough."
Grupe, a veteran who previously played for the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts, maintains an 81.9% career field-goal accuracy rate.
Harrison Mevis is fired from the Rams after the 34:37 bankruptcy against Buffalo. His blocked field goal in the overtime initiated the out of the cult kicker.
