Ralph Norman Accuses Trump of Pressuring South Carolina Voters to Back Senate Candidate
Norman, who lost the primary to Trump-backed Graham, refuses to campaign and expresses concerns about special interest influence on voters.
South Carolina GOP Rep. Ralph Norman announced Tuesday he will not campaign for Senator Darline Graham in the upcoming midterms, citing concerns over her conservative credentials and outside spending influence.
During the primary, Trump endorsed Graham; Norman claims the president is spreading "false narratives" about her qualifications, citing past tension over his 2024 support for Nikki Haley.
Ralph Warren, Norman's real estate developer son, declared in an op-ed last week he is supporting Democratic candidate Annie Andrews, arguing there is "no true conservative to vote for in this election."
Growing concern over a fractured party grips the GOP ahead of next week's midterms, even as Trump returns to South Carolina this week to stump for Graham a second straight week.
Despite ideological differences, Norman stated he and Andrews "also agree on some important things, including fighting corruption," criticizing voters being forced to "settle" for candidates backed by special interest groups.
