NATO chief Mark Rutte praised Donald Trump as a “pragmatic peacemaker” after White House talks with Zelenskyy and European leaders, crediting him for restarting dialogue with Putin as discussions focused on Article 5-style security guarantees for Ukraine.
According to the NATO Secretary General, there was no discussion of sending American or European troops to Ukraine during Zelensky's meeting in Washington, the Kyiv Independent reported.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that the possible presence of Western troops in Ukraine was not discussed during the White House meeting. In an interview with Fox News, he stated that it would be a subject of upcoming discussions. He also noted that the change in the discussion on security guarantees for Ukraine is that the United States has now declared its willingness to participate.
