Queensland Police Officer Shot in Yengarie Standoff; Man Found Dead

On Friday, a 36-year-old constable was shot in the leg responding to a domestic violence call at Yengarie near Maryborough, Queensland, and remains in stable condition after transport to hospital.
Following an armed standoff, specialized police discovered the 45-year-old suspect dead at the scene, with an emergency declaration issued under the Public Safety Preservation Act.
Authorities established an exclusion zone encompassing Lake Drive, Meadow Drive, and Mary View Drive, while power was cut to more than 100 homes for several hours over safety concerns.
The Queensland Police Union stated, "He is receiving expert medical care, and the QPS is taking responsibility for notifying his immediate family," while the Ethical Standards Command launched an investigation.
Investigation oversight involves the Corruption Commission, with findings reported to the State Coroner, and police scheduled a media conference on Saturday to provide updates.
