- The SRCA signed an open letter condemning the remarks as "deeply irresponsible," warning that the MSP must not "create hierarchies of harm" or "normalise sexual violence" by suggesting the crime exists on a spectrum.
- Backlash expanded to include Labour, the Conservatives, and the Liberal Democrats, while a Scottish Green Party spokesperson maintained the party "unequivocally condemns rape" and argued the clips were "deliberately taken out of context."
- Defending the discussion, Manivannan noted that "in a country where rape has the lowest conviction rates of any crime," this conversation is necessary, as Police Scotland reported a 48% increase in sexual offences over the last decade.
