Finland is closely following the Russian activities. Up to now, the expansion was mainly about infrastructure. But after an end to the war in Ukraine this could change.
Nordic and Baltic media reporters, following a journalistic investigation, revealed that Russia is actively building military infrastructure near its borders with NATO countries. This infrastructure will potentially enable the deployment of over 100,000 troops there.
A joint study by a number of media outlets from Northern Europe and the Baltic states found that Russia is building new infrastructure near its borders to house tens of thousands of troops.
New military bases are being established, and existing units are being expanded to bring together 115,000 soldiers in the area after the end of the war with Ukraine, according to Scandinavian and Estonian media.
