More than five years after the hunt that killed about 540 animals, between deer and boars, in Herdade da Torre Bela, Portugal, the investigation into the case was filed, on Tuesday (21). The authorities concluded that there is not enough evidence to support the accusation of damage against nature, besides not having been able to identify all those responsible for the shooting or to hear one of the main organizers of the mount.
Portugal watched in horror as the images of Torre Bela surfaced. Five years later, the State's response amounts to the case being shelved and a €3,000 fine imposed on the estate owner. Three thousand euros. Opinion by Sandra Duarte Cardoso
