The chairman of the regional board on Gotland, Meit Fohlin (S), wants to introduce a tourist tax in Sweden. She thinks that the bill for Gotland and the Gotland people has become far too big — and sees a risk of creating an us-and-them divide between tourists and residents. “When others scale down in the summer, we scale up,” says Meit Fohlin.
