Extreme heat and drought affecting Europe have lowered yield expectations for summer crops, particularly maize and soybeans. According to European Commission data, temperatures have risen 4-6 degrees above normal. Soybean yields have fallen 14 percent below the average of the last five years, and declines are expected for maize and other crops as well.
