Federal Way Man Receives 3-Year Sentence for Drug Trafficking
Investigators say the conspiracy distributed cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl, including 57,000 fentanyl pills and 17 firearms seized in the case.
On Wednesday, U.S. District Judge Tana Lin sentenced 54-year-old Federal Way resident Leonardo Rojas Cruz to three years in prison for his role in a drug trafficking conspiracy targeting unhoused individuals in Seattle.
Rojas Cruz, a Mexican national with a prior 1991 federal drug conviction, trafficked narcotics into 'The Jungle' under I-5 and the Chinatown International District, according to the DOJ.
Prosecutors noted Rojas Cruz purchased substantial quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine for resale; Robert A. Saccone of the DEA Seattle Field Division stated he profited from the city's most vulnerable.
The DOJ expects Rojas Cruz will face deportation following his prison term, while co-conspirators Daniel Ibarra Loera and Jose Garcia Corona have already been sentenced for their involvement.
Authorities seized enough fentanyl powder to unleash 1.7 million potentially lethal doses during the investigation, while co-conspirator Sang Su awaits sentencing on November 4, 2026.
