Kiru hydropower project corruption: CBI raids residence of ex-governor of J&K Satya Pal Malik
India's leading crime investigation agency raided the residence of former governor of Jammu and Kashmir Satya Pal Malik on Thursday (Feb 22) over alleged corruption in a hydropower project, media reports said. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been probing the corruption of the contract awarded to the Kiru Hydroelectric project, news agency ANI said citing sources. The probe agency also carried out raids at dozens of other locations.
The CBI searched the premises of former J&K governor Satya Pal Malik and 29 other locations in connection with alleged corruption in the Kiru Hydropower project
Mr. Malik, who was the governor of Jammu and Kashmir between August 23, 2018 and October 30, 2019 had claimed he was offered a ₹300-crore bribe for clearing two files, including the one pertaining to the project.
