Roumieh Central Prison in Lebanon witnessed a state of tension and riots, after a number of prisoners carried out a rebellion to demand the approval of a general amnesty law and the reduction of prison years.

A number of prisoners rioted in Roumieh Prison in Lebanon on Thursday, demanding the approval of a well-studied general amnesty law and the reduction of prison years. Roumieh Prison, the largest prison in Lebanon, is located in Roumieh, Metn District, east of Beirut. The prison usually houses around 5,500 inmates and is considered overcrowded.
