Prison officer jailed after having sex with inmate in 'chapel area'

Isabelle Dale, 23, jailed for 3.5 years for misconduct and conspiring to smuggle synthetic cannabinoid into prisons while engaged to inmate Shahid Sharif, court heard.

  • Last year, Southwark Crown Court sentenced Isabelle Dale, 23, former prison officer, to a three and a half year prison sentence for misconduct and conspiring to convey a List A article after convictions in November.
  • Isabelle Dale formed intimate ties with inmates Shahid Sharif and Connor Money, concealed her job to join Sharif's approved visitors list at HMP Coldingley, and became engaged to him.
  • Entering the chapel, prosecutors say Dale and Shahid Sharif spent about four minutes in HMP Coldingley multi-faith room while others acted as lookouts and the room lacks CCTV.
  • Authorities detained Dale on Nov 1, 2022 during a visit to Shahid Sharif at HMP Swaleside, while co-conspirators Lilea Sallis and Sharif received sentences of two and a half years and 27 months.
  • Searches revealed equipment capable of smuggling synthetic cannabinoid 'Spice', and messages from Sharif claimed he could make 3,000 a week, exposing security vulnerabilities.
