PM Shehbaz Condemns Drone Attack on UAE's 'Civilian Infrastructure'
Iran said the attacks were retaliation for U.S. military actions as the UAE warned it reserves the right to respond.
On Monday, the United Arab Emirates reported that Iranian strikes hit the Fujairah energy hub, wounding three Indians and igniting fires at the facility.
Shattering a Pakistani-mediated ceasefire in effect since April 8, the attacks threatened Fujairah, which is critical for oil exports as it bypasses the Strait of Hormuz.
Defensive actions included the UAE Defence ministry intercepting three missiles fired over territorial waters, while Iranian state media claimed the Islamic republic had 'no pre-planned programme' to target oil facilities.
India's foreign ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal condemned the strikes, calling for free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged respecting the ceasefire.
Iranian FM Araghchi criticized the US initiative 'Project Freedom' as 'Project Deadlock,' warning the UAE against being drawn into a 'quagmire by ill-wishers' amid escalating tensions.
