Has British Prime Minister Keir Starmer been able to keep his promise to reduce the number of (fatal) stabbings one year after the election? With that question, VRT NWS went to Havering, a suburb of London, to talk to mothers of stabbed children and to local police.
On 5 July 2024, the British voted and carried the Labour Party in power, after fourteen years of Conservative rule. Keir Starmer entered Downing Street, with a strong numerical majority in Parliament. Yet, a year later, the British daily did not necessarily change much, and the Prime Minister was in a weakened position within his party.
