Nonprofit Watchdog Releases TSA-ICE Data Agreement
The watchdog says the agreement shows TSA intends to share specific passenger data with ICE, and records link the program to more than 800 arrests.
- On Tuesday, watchdog group American Oversight released a previously undisclosed May 2025 agreement formalizing a data-sharing partnership between the Transportation Security Administration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
- Reports indicate TSA shared information on more than 31,000 travelers, leading to more than 800 immigration-related arrests amid growing scrutiny of airport enforcement incidents in Boston, Las Vegas, and Denver.
- The memorandum appears to conflict with sworn congressional testimony from acting TSA Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill, who previously claimed the agency does not "send the information to ICE."
- During a Senate confirmation hearing this month, TSA Administrator nominee David Cummins declined to detail the information shared, stating he would "try to provide as much as we can within our bounds."
- American Oversight Executive Director Chioma Chukwu warned the agreement sets "a dangerous precedent," as the group plans to pursue further litigation to determine how passenger data safeguards function and how the partnership affects travelers.
