- On Wednesday, Mozambican President Daniel Chapo and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa launched the 294-kilometre CPMZ pipeline expansion in Nhamatanda, marking a major infrastructure milestone for regional cooperation.
- The expansion raises annual transport capacity of the Beira-Harare fuel corridor from 3 million to 5 million cubic metres by 2027, adding capacity to transport approximately two billion additional litres of fuel annually into Southern Africa's interior.
- Construction of two new pumping stations in Nhamatanda, Sofala Province, and Messica, Manica Province, will proceed without interrupting daily operations, CPMZ Chairman of the Board of Directors António Laice confirmed.
- Emphasizing shared prosperity, President Chapo declared, "When Mozambique grows, we want Zimbabwe to benefit," as the pipeline reinforces a critical supply route from the Port of Beira to landlocked regional markets.
- Preliminary studies are evaluating a larger-diameter pipeline to potentially increase annual capacity to approximately 12 million cubic metres by 2050, alongside a possible extension of the Harare-Lusaka route into Zambia's Copperbelt.
