President Asta Skysgirite's chief counselor said that Lithuania had to take action in response to the threat to aviation and society caused by the smuggling of balloons launched from Belarus, but that the subsequent opening of the border, she said, had taken place in haste.
After the government decided to open the border with Belarus last week, and with smuggled balloons continuing to flow into Lithuania from there, President Gitanas Nausėda says that the possibility of closing border checkpoints with this country again cannot be ruled out. However, raising questions about whether the government's decisions were made in a timely manner, according to the country's leader, is pointless.
Senior adviser to the President of Lithuania Asta Skaisgirite said that there was no need to hurry with the decision to open the border with Belarus.
