On Sunday, September 27, 2026, a preliminary 3.6-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Hermosa Beach at 8:40 a.m., according to the Geological Survey.
The tremor occurred at a depth of 7.4 miles with its epicenter about 3.7 miles west-southwest of Hermosa Beach, affecting residents across the Los Angeles area.
No injuries or structural damage were reported following the incident, and the Hermosa Beach Police Department confirmed receiving no service calls regarding the earthquake.
The USGS DYFI report collected 1,735 online responses from residents in Woodland Hills, Canoga Park, and Encino who reported experiencing weak shaking from the event.
