The European Parliament has adopted a reform allowing elected representatives to vote by proxy during their maternity leave, a major step forward for political representation.
"No MEP should lose their right to vote because they become a mother," says European Parliament President Metsola.
In the European Parliament, pregnant MEPs will be able to transfer their voting rights before or after birth.
