JPNN.com, JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the groundbreaking of the Abadi Field National Strategic Project, Masela Block in Maluku, Thursday (16/7/2026).
The government officially started the Rp342 trillion Abadi Masela LNG project on Thursday, July 16, 2026, for national energy security. |Located in the Arafura Sea, this giant gas field holds jumbo reserves of up to 18.5 trillion cubic feet of gas and 225 million barrels of condensate. |After a 28-year wait, President Prabowo requested that this project be accelerated to boost the economy of Maluku and Eastern Indonesia.
Prabowo stated that the Abadi Masela gas project has been delayed for nearly three decades. Indonesians are said to be eagerly awaiting this strategic national project.
Prabowo will inaugurate the construction of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing facility for the Abadi Project in the Masela Block today.
