Power restored for most BC Hydro customers affected by Bradley Creek wildfire
Crews repaired wildfire-damaged infrastructure and replaced more than 200 poles as service was restored in phases, BC Hydro said.
- On Saturday, August 8, BC Hydro restored power to 2,700 customers near Vernon affected by the Bradley Creek wildfire following "extensive" repairs to damaged infrastructure. Approximately 230 customers remain without power.
- The Bradley Creek wildfire is classified as "being held" at 2,635 hectares, meaning the fire is not expected to grow beyond its current perimeter. BC Wildfire Service crews continue to patrol and mop up along the fire's edge.
- Crews replaced more than 200 power poles and strung more than six kilometres of power lines to support restoration efforts. Re-energizing lines through the Westside Road corridor began on Saturday.
- The Okanagan Indian Band announced Saturday that more residents may return home as areas are deemed safe, though re-entry will not occur everywhere at once. Officials continue assessing hazards like fire-damaged trees and compromised services.
