The wallaby roaming free in Boucherville is one of the most unusual cases involving wild animals in Quebec recently, and the situation is becoming more complicated. Since last Friday, June 12, the animal has escaped from the stable where it was kept and has been wandering near Highway 20. The Ministry of Wildlife has just released more details to explain why no one has yet intervened to capture it.

The hopping animal variously described as a wallaby or a kangaroo was caught in Boucherville Tuesday evening after five days on the run amid growing concern that it could get itself killed on a highway if it wasn’t captured. The animal’s been brought to Granby Zoo, and presumably won’t be returned to whoever was illegally harbouring it.
