Joseph Figueira Martin has just been sentenced on Tuesday 4 November to 10 years of forced labour in the Central African Republic. The Belgian-Portuguese consultant, a specialist in pastoralism, had been arrested by the Russian paramilitaries in Wagner in May 2024. He was convicted of complicity in the association of criminals and of violating the security of the State.
In July last, the European Parliament condemned the RCA for the violation of human rights by the Belgian-Belg Joseph Figeira Martin.
Joseph Martin was kidnapped by a group of Wagner and will have been tortured in the Central African Republic. The court sentenced him to 10 years of forced labor by criminal conspiracy and mined security in the country.
Joseph Figeira Martin's defense, kidnapped by the Wagner group in May 2024, will be brought to trial.
