Portugal sends more than 100 operatives to fight fires in Canada

Canada was fighting over 400 active fires on Tuesday, with the largest share in the province of Quebec. Portugal, France and Spain send firefighters and other agents to help.

The Minister of Internal Administration, José Luís Carneiro, said this Thursday that Portugal will send between 100 and 120 elements to help fight the fires that are devastating Canada, with more than three million hectares destroyed. “This time, we also wanted to integrate elements of the Madeira firefighters into this force - it was a commitment that existed from Civil Protection.
