Race to the Road: Introducing the Porsche 963 RSP
- Porsche revealed the one-off 963 RSP, a road-capable version of its top-level endurance race car, today near the Circuit de la Sarthe in France.
- The 963 RSP project began last December with FIA and IMSA approval, inspired by a 1975 Porsche 917 car driven on public roads under special conditions.
- The car retains the hybrid twin-turbo 4.6-liter V8 engine producing about 680 horsepower and features updates for street use like revised hybrid mapping and raised driver seat.
- Penske will take delivery of the 963 RSP at Monterey Car Week in August, and it will be displayed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, while road use is limited and requires local authorization.
- The 963 RSP highlights Porsche and Penske's ongoing collaboration and marks a passion project that might inspire future creations, though no further road versions are currently planned.
