Popular holiday park company placed into administration
Joint administrators were appointed as insolvency filings rose 44% from July, according to new Insolvency Service figures.
- On September 8, administrators Adam Paxton and Robert Croxen of Alvarez & Marsal were appointed to Cove Communities Venture 2 Medmerry OpCo Limited, operator of Medmerry Holiday Park in West Sussex.
- Medmerry, which featured 308 self-catering chalets on a 100-acre site near Chichester, will not reopen following the flooding that forced its closure in 2024.
- Cove Communities has seen several subsidiaries enter administration this year, including the Argyll Holidays portfolio in Scotland, Gwel an Mor Resort in Cornwall, and Solway Holiday Park in the Lake District.
- Despite these developments, several connected holiday sites have continued trading; Kings Park Village in Essex remains active and unaffected by the administration.
- Insolvency Service figures show administrations were 44% higher than in July 2026 and 60% higher than in August 2025, as industry costs rise and compound pressure on British hospitality traders.
