Algerian women will now have the same rights as men with regard to freedom of movement and choice of place of residence, thanks to the lifting in early August of the reservation on article 15-4 of the Cedaw, which has long been claimed by feminists. But this historic decision could remain a dead letter if domestic legislation does not follow.
