New Allegations Against South Wales Bishop Jailed for Sex Attacks
Police said three new reports have been received and investigators believe other victim-survivors may still come forward.
South Wales Police are investigating fresh allegations against Anthony Pierce, the former Bishop of Swansea and Brecon, after receiving three new reports of historical offences dating to the 1970s and 80s.
Pierce, 85, was sentenced to four years and one month in prison last year after pleading guilty to five counts of indecent assault on a child under 16. A 1993 allegation against him was reported to the Church but not to police until 2010.
Detective Inspector Tom Richardson of Swansea CID urged potential victims to come forward, stating, "We believe that there may be others who have been subject to Pierce's crimes." The force promised reports will be handled sensitively.
Officers are currently investigating the three new reports. Anyone with information can contact South Wales Police on 101, quoting occurrence number 2600140999.
A Church-commissioned review last year examined how claims against Pierce were handled, revealing he was appointed to senior positions despite prior sexual abuse warnings.
