2 Killed, 3 Injured in House Explosion in Vermont
State police said the blast killed two people and injured three others, and preliminary findings do not indicate it was suspicious.
A house explosion in Granville, Addison County, killed two people and injured three others on Saturday night around 7:45 p.m. in the town of about 300 residents.
Preliminary findings from the Vermont State Police do not indicate the explosion was suspicious, though members of the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit arrived to examine the remote scene.
One woman died at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph after being transported there, while a man died at the scene; three other adults were hospitalized with one suffering "critical injuries" and two with minor injuries.
The Vermont Division and the Granville Volunteer Fire Department assisted Vermont State Police in the emergency response, while authorities are withholding victim names pending notification of relatives.
State Police Major Steven Coote noted that limited information is currently available due to poor cell service in the remote area, as investigators expected to remain on-site throughout Sunday.
